"The year of their marriage, they moved to Norton and all their children were born there...Before Anna married a second time, she and Judge Thomas agreed to make their wills before they wed. This was done and Judge Thomas approved Anna's will. Some of the items of interest in the will were that Anna gave to her son Abiel the pewter that had been his grandmother Leonard's, and to her daughter Phebe, Anna gave her gold chain. Anna's estate included many colorful garments of satin, velvet, and other fine fabrics. These she gave to her daughters."
"George owned much land. He had a "corn mill" on Wading River in 1714 at the sit of Barrowsville. He was Judge of the Court of Common Pleas and a Major in the militia at the time of his death.
....Reverend Clark (in Hurd, 1883, History of Bristol County) tells this story: "Norton has not been exempt from believers in witches, wizards, ghosts and goblins: Tradition has hand down to us the important intelligence that Major George Leonard--the first of this name in town--made league with the devil in order to acquire great wealth; and, as return for the services rendered Leonard promised to give his body to the Devil when he called for it. Accordingly in 1716, while Mr. Leonard was sick of a fever, of which he died, the old imp came, claimed his body, and actually carried it off."
