The firste of January Adm 1578: I Willyam Tylle of Henlow in the countie of Beddforde husbandman, sicke of bodie but whole of minde, thanckes be unto god, doe ordaine and make this my laste will and testament , in manner & fourme followinge: Firste I committ my soule to allmightie god, and my bodie to be buried in the church yearde of Henlowe aforesaide: Imprimis I give to Robert Tille my sonne, twoe bullockes, & to John his sonne, one bullocke: Item I give unto Wilyam Warde, my sonne in lawe, twoe bullockes, one yearelinge, & an other twoe yeares oulde: Item I give unto Willyam Sheffeilde my sonne in lawe, a cowe bullocke & a bullchime. Item I will that Willyam Sheffeilde shall have his bargaine, in my lande from that time he beganne untill three yeares be expired: Item I give unto every one of Robert Tylles children, twoe sheeepe a peese & to him selfe fower sheepe: Item I give unto Agnes Warde two sheepe: Item I give unto Willyam Sheffeildes children, twoe sheepe a peece, that is to saie John Willyam and Agnes: Item I give unto Robert Tille my sonne six quarters of malte, and to his three children a quarter a peece: Item I give unto Agnes Warde a quarter of malte: Itme I give unto Willyam Sheffeilde iii 1 vi s. viii d. of money, that he oweth me if god take me out of this worlde att this present time. Item I give to John Harwood one sheete one bushell of barley my working daie peticoate, and my fustian waisecoate and one smocke: Item I give to Robert Sam, my late servant, the ould coverlett, that useth to lye on my bedd. !Robert Tilley was a yeoman and was executor of the will of William Ellborne of Henlow, shearman, dated 16 Jan 1587/8, proved 1 Oct 1588 (Archdeaconry of Bedford 22:55). Robert's will is as follows:
"Will of Robert Tilley, Archdeaconry of Bedford 30:70 f.: In the name of god Amen: I Robert Tilley of Henlowe in the countie of Bedd: yeoman sicke in bodie but whole and of good and perfect remembrance, thankes be give to god therefore, doe this 31th daie of december A 1612 renounce and revoake all former willes by me hearebefore made, and doe nowe make and ordaine, this my laste will and testament in manner and forme followinge that is to saie: First I bequeathe my soule to allmightie god my maker, and to Jesus Christe his sonne my reedemer, by whose deathe and passing I hope to be saved and my bodie to be buried att the discretion of my executrix: (see the rest in file)
